Canna-Shrub Libation Enhancer

Once upon a time, many months before you were cradling that luscious Fern Valley Farms CBD bud in the palm of your hand, that potent little flower was merely a young hemp shrub that grew into adulthood and produced its magnificent yield of cannabinoids and terpenes.  The only reason we mention this early stage of hemp growth is that, in our latest recipe, we will be using those fabulous cannabinoids to make a shrub, a drinking vinegar that also includes water, fruit (and/or other botanicals), and sugar. The resulting product has a light syrup consistency, with the fruits greatly enhanced by the sweet and sour tangs of the sugar and vinegar additions. But, unlike the premature hemp shrub, this shrub will be filled with the cannabinoids of your choice! That’s why we call our concoction the canna-shrub, since, with the inclusion of selected cannabinoids, this drink is transformed from a mere libation enhancer into a delicious wellness product! The History of the Shrub (The Drink, n...

CBDA and CBGA Prove Their Mettle Against COVID-19

We definitely find this news exciting but, for us, it really is not that surprising. We are referring to a news article published January 12 2022 on the HempGrower website entitled “ Oregon State Research Shows Hemp Compounds Prevent Coronavirus From Entering Human Cells ” which reported on current research being performed. The title pretty much explains the news but let us flesh it out just a bit more. (For complete details, we recommend you read the above-linked original article.) The Research* Using a chemical screening technique invented at Oregon State University (OSU), two hemp compounds were identified as having the capacity to stop the COVID-19 virus from penetrating human cells. Specifically, the compounds able to perform this feat have been identified as cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) and cannabigerolic acid (CBGA).  (Those of you better schooled in the main compounds found in the hemp (and cannabis) plant readily recognize these two cannabinoids and can likely offer a gen...

Cannabinoid-Enriched Apple Crisp

Did you know that there are over 7,500 different apple varieties worldwide? Even more impressive is the fact that America on its own is a proud producer of about ⅓ of all apple varieties on this planet! (This apple factoid may better explain the phrase “American as apple pie!”)  Top – Apple Varieties – Apple Benefits – Apple Adages – Apple Crisp Recipe – Potency Calculations Popular Apple Varieties The next time you are in the produce section in the grocery store, take a moment to compare the various apples from which you can choose and then scan over the other fruits. The plain truth is that no other fruit boasts as many varieties as does the apple fruit. Fortunately, as you try to choose the best or more desired apple for your current shopping trip you can thank your grocer for eliminating over 99.9% of all the apple varieties available for consumption; that would still leave 7 different varieties for selection. (If you find over 7 apple varieties in a grocery store you s...

Delta 8/CBD Wassail

The end of the year brings out the revelry in all of us. It’s a great time to look back at our recent accomplishments as well as to look ahead to the promises a new year may offer. But as we approach 2022, it can also be healthy to let loose a little and celebrate the good fortune we already have in our lives. So, in the spirit of tradition, goodwill, and general merrymaking, we have concocted a special holiday brew that we call our Delta 8/CBD Wassail! What’s a Wassail? While most people will call it mulled cider in our modern parlance, wassail was the original word for this traditional old-English heated quaff.  Sure, we could have called this recipe our Delta 8/CBD Mulled Cider but wassail has a history that kind of resonates with us. The original practice of wassailing, which was initiated and inspired by imbibing the hot wassail, involved singing to the trees and spirits in their fruit orchards with the intention of a healthy harvest the following year.  As you know ...
